Hilbert modular varieties
Mini-course given as part of the special year in Number Theory and
Arithmetic Geometry.
Time: February 18 and March 2, 1999.
Abstract: The mini-course will be concerned with the local deformation
theory of abelian varieties with real multiplication in positive characteristic.
The main applications being comparison of the variation of the Newton polygon
and of the type, and studying Hasse invariants. In practice, we will deal
mostly with formal groups and their Cartier-Dieudone' modules.
