McGill Math and Stats Directed Reading Program
The McGill Directed Reading Program (DRP) pairs undergraduate students with graduate student mentors for weekly meetings, so as to learn about research-level topics in mathematics and statistics in a casual setting. In this way, undergraduates can obtain personalized guidance from someone who is further along the research path but can still relate to them as a peer.
The program takes place during the Winter semester, and planning for it occurs in the Fall. The structure of each mentorship is up to the graduate and undergraduate student; generally a one hour-long weekly meeting is suggested. Each undergraduate student is expected to write an expository paper about their project by the end of the term, with the help of their mentor. The papers will be reviewed and then posted on this website.
Also, at the end of the term, students have the option to present the results of their work at the DRP talks. There will be free food!
This DRP is an offshoot of the original program of the same name at the University of Chicago math department. Since then, the DRP network has expanded greatly throughout North American and beyond.

Start of Program Orientation
We are looking forward to the start of the winter semester and this year's program! We will hold an orientation in the grad lounge (BURN 1024) on January 9th at 5:30pm - 7pm to go through the details of the program and to give you a chance to meet your mentors and fellow students! We hope to see you there!
