MATH 571: Higher Algebra 2

Course Description

• INSTRUCTOR: Professor J. Labute, BH 1112, Office Hours: MWF 9:30-12:30.
• TEXT: S. Lang, Algebra(rev. 3rd ed.), Graduate Texts in Mathematics, Springer.
• SYLLABUS: Algebraic extensions, Galois theory, extensions of rings and integrality, Dedekind domains.
• ASSIGNMENTS: There will be 5 assignments.
• FINAL EXAM: There will be a three hour final exam.
• GRADING: If A = assignment mark, E = exam mark and F = final mark (all out of 100), then F = .2A + .8E.
