Québec-Vermont Number Theory Seminar 2006-2007
Schedule: Fall,
Winter.
General Information.
Organizers: Eyal Goren and Henri Darmon.
Explanations for schedule:
This year the Quebec-Vermont Number Theory seminar will be meeting every
other week, on Thursdays. Typically the first lecture
will be in the morning from 10:30 to 12:00 at McGill in room 920,
and the afternoon lecture from 2:00 to 3:30 in the Concordia
Library building, on the 9th floor.
But be sure to check the detailed schedule below for possible
exceptions to the rule!
Scientific program: The Quebec-Vermont seminar in
the fall semester will be devoted (albeit not exclusively)
to the recent proof of the
Sato-Tate conjecture. There will be several lectures
aimed at helping graduate students and faculty acquire the necessary background,
building up to the two lectures by Richard Taylor on November 30.
A related activity:
Jean-Pierre Serre will give a mini-course from September 6 to October 6
on "cohomological invariants"
which will meet twice a week,
Mondays and Wednesdays
from 12:00 to 1:00 in Burnside Hall 1205.
Although not part of the number theory seminar,
this should be of interest to all the students in the number theory group.
