Graduate Student Seminar 1997-98
Organizers: Imin Chen, Chantal David and Henri Darmon
Times
Monday Seminar: Monday 4:30-5:30 at Concordia LB 559-6.
Friday Seminar: Friday 2:15-3:15 at McGill Burnside Hall 1205
Syllabus: The graduate student seminar is an
informal seminar which will meet
once or twice a week. This year the seminar is divided into two parts:
1. A basic
seminar which is attached to Chantal
David's s graduate course on algebraic number fields.
2. A somewhat more advanced seminar meeting on Fridays at McGill, and attached
to Imin Chen's course on modular curves and modular forms.
Everyone is welcome to attend,
but the number theory graduate students
are strongly encouraged to do so!
Grading Scheme: There will be no assignments. The grade will be
based on in-class participations, and on the lectures given
by the students. It is expected that every student who is registered
in the courses of Chantal David or Imin Chen
will give at least one, and hopefully two, lectures.
Schedule of the seminar in
1996-97.
