Mathematics Online: Internet Seminar for a Second Tedious, Lonely Year
(MOISSTLY)

Organiser: Henri Darmon.

Time. Fridays or Thursdays, depending on mood and weather.

The goal of this discussion group is for us to keep speaking to each other regularly as the lockdown measures gradually ease, making use of the same ``flipped seminar" format as last summer.

We will agree each week on one or two lectures to follow on line (either live lectures, usually taken from mathseminars.org or from the wealth of recorded lectures that have accumulated on youtube during the pandemic, far faster than our capacity to process them in real time.

The participant list is being kept deliberately small, to facilitate participation, but if you are interested in taking part please just contact me.

Suggested conferences and lectures

June 1-3.
A conference for the 60-th birthday of Zaharescu, with an impressive roster of speakers.

Week of June 7-11.
The CMS summer meeting boasts 5 or so different number theory sessions, many of them happening at the same time. Plenty of lectures here to fuel our discussions...

June 16
The Azat Miftakhov day, featuring lectures by Viazovska and Scholze.

Friday, June 18
Let us meet at 3 PM. Possible topics include the lectures of Viazovska, or Scholze of the Wednesday, or something we heard at the CMS meeting the week before.

Week of June 21-25.
There will be a small, intimate gathering in Luxembourg for the first meeting of the GALF project of which Montreal is a partner. There are a number of talks in the program that should be interesting. Among these let me single out a lecture by Giada Grossi on higher Hida theory for Hilbert modular forms.

Friday, June 25
We will meet at 11 AM; note the unusual time, which is to accomodate Giada's time zone preferences. Giada will lead the discussion but please make an effort to come prepared, and ask questions!

Friday, July 2
We will take the week off to mark Canada day, and to sulk or to celebrate depending on the outcome of the hockey games that week.

July 5-7.
There will be a meeting on Eisenstein series and equivariant cohomology in Regensburg.

July 5-9.
The Kudla 70th birthday conference at the Fields Institute.

Friday, July 9
We will discuss the Monday lecture of Dick Gross at the Kudla 70 conference.

Week of July 12-16.
Mathematical Congress of the Americas, in Buenos Aires.

Friday, July 16
Lassina has asked to delay our meeting, and since it is a rather busy week anyway with the MCA we will put off having a discussion. Since I am meeting a number of you that day, we can plan to have the weekly picnic near Burnside.

Week of July 19-23.
MCA, cont'd.

Friday, July 23
TBA.

Friday, July 30
3 PM. Lassina Dembele has kindly agreed to give a more detailed, repeat performance of his CMS meeting lecture on Hecke operators for modular forms on orthogonal groups.
