Textbook:
There will be no required textbooks for this course. Instead, for each topic I will follow a selected text, usually an excerpt from a textbook. You do not need to buy any of these textbooks. I will make photocopies of the relevant materials and hand them out in class at the start of each new topic.

Syllabus: The syllabus of the course is here. The content and pace will be fairly challenging, although more detailed (and therefore, somewhat less fast-paced) than in the first semester. As in the first semester, emphasis will be placed on rigorous proofs, and on developping mathematical maturity and problem-solving skills.

Grading Scheme :
40% Weekly assignments. I will be handing out a short assignment every week on Fridays. These assignments will be due on the following week. Unlike last semester, I will not insist that you hand in your work, but instead I will set aside an extra hour each week (problem-solving session) and assign individual students to present their solutions to the class. Since the class size should be fairly small, each person can expect to be called up every two weeks or so. Whether or not you have been assigned to present a solution to a problem, do not neglect the assignments: there is a strong correlation between the work you put into them and how well you will do in the final exam, and hence in the course.

20% One-hour in-class midterm.

40% Three-hour in-class Final.

There will be an option of 100% final.
