Title: "Infinite words and fully residually free groups"

Date: 3:30pm Wednesday, September 18.

Room: 920 Burnside

Abstract:  TBA

Infinite words appear in group theory usually as a result of

going to the  limit  in some infinite process. I will discuss on

how one can represent elements of fully residually free groups by

infinite words of a very particular type. These words occur as a

limit in a series of approximations of a given fully residually

free group $G$ into a free group $F$. Such representations allow

one to treat  elements in $G$ in the same manner as ordinary words

in $F$.
