Abstract:
In this talk I will present a recent method for finding conserved vectors for nonlinearly self-adjoint differential equations using their symmetries and discuss the method of conservation laws for constructing exact solutions for systems of nonlinear partial differential equations.
The essence of the method will be illustrated by constructing new solutions for the Chaplygin gas. The obtained solutions contain several arbitrary parameters and cannot be obtained as group invariant solutions.
