ASSIGNMENTS (4% of your mark):
HOMEWORK SETS: Not to be handed in. These sets systematically cover the course material
that is in common to both the Majors and Honours lecture sections,
and will be the basis of the Class Tests and Final Exam.
The two marked ASSIGNMENTS above will provide only a partial coverage of the course.
Problem numbers refer to the 4th edition of Bartle & Sherbert. For example (2.1) #1-12 means Section 2.1, Problems 1 to 12. Note that
the back of the book gives some answers and hints.
HW1: Complete by Nov. 5. (2.1) #1-12, (2.2) #1-13,16,17,
(2.3) #1-14, (2.4) #1-8, #13-19, (2.5) #1-13,
(3.1) #1-18, (3.2) #1-23, (3.3) #1-12, (3.4) #1-16 (omit limsup and liminf),
(3.5) #1-11 (omit contractive sequences), (3.6) #1-10.
HW2: Complete by Nov. 12. All problems in (4.1), (4.2), (4.3). (but 4.3 is not emphasized)
HW3: Complete by Nov. 29. (5.1) #1-15, (5.2) #1-11.
HW4: (Omitted). (5.3) #1-17, (5.4) #1-15, (5.6) #1-5, (6.1) #1-14.
HW5: (Omitted). (6.2) #1-13,15-18, (6.3) #1-11, (6.4) #1-14.
CLASS TESTS (21% of your mark): The material we currently expect to be tested on each test
is indicated below, and may be adjusted at a time closer to the actual test date.
The tests are held in class time (10:05am-11:25am) in the rooms listed on the
Minerva Schedule. Your specific room will be announced here, based on your last name.
